Gift of the Leaves

Leaves
falling

still
in this season lingering
a small gift from God
to hold here
for just a bit
to breathe
to see
leaves
yellow
red
gold
reaching for the sun
bathed in glorious light
holding hands with the birch fairy to dance again
one last dance
birch, ash, maple fairies
all in the sun
and oh, how they are beautiful
as they twirl
slowly
gracefully
lastly
falling
falling
falling
still.
